Blogging 101 HELP

My first blog post and I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. Trying to attract a readership? Maybe. Reason why I care about said readership? Unknown. Basically I am a confused student in my last few weeks of high school, desperate not to miss out on a “high school blog”, something that I feel is a bit of a right of passage of every arty (ha! I just called myself arty) teenager.

I guess, if you’re reading this, you might be intrigued as to what I’ll be posting. I like to think that you would be, anyhow. The problem is, I have no clue as to what I’ll be posting. It could be attempts to glamourise the little slice of Australian suburbia in which I live. It could be about my rad real-life friends, or it could be about when my real-life friends start becoming not-so-rad (thankfully, this doesn’t happen all that often). There’s also the chance that my writing will venture into one – or more – of my favourite thought areas. Feminism. Equality. Australia’s downright shitty political situation.

If you’re still reading, you’ve probably gathered that I’m quite confused about what’s up. You’re right. I’m not quite sure as to what goes on in this part of the blogosphere. (do people even call it the blogosphere? Am I now a loser online AND in real life? Holy smack.) If you know, and are prepared to leave your mark on this currently shoddy-looking blog, please let me know what the deal is.
Much love xox

PS. I think I just asked for comments…
PPS. Is this a blogging no-no?

Over and out. For real this time.

Don’t worry, no one knows what he’s doing at start. Just post whatever you want and you’ll find your route. Or maybe not. Not everyone needs a route. If this blog is something you do for yourself, or to keep track of your life and passions, or whatever your reason is, just do it the way it comes to you. (Forgive me, my birthday is tomorrow and I feel so mature and wise ahahahah). If you’ll need something, my little blog and I will be at your service ^_^

Thank-you so much Alice! Your blog is so beautiful, and boy, does it have SO. MANY. POSTS. I noticed you used blogger – I tried it but found it hard to customise :(. The problem is, most of the blogs I’d like to follow are actually made with blogger. Do you think wordpress.com is a good place for me (a total rookie) to stay, or is blogger pretty simple?

Awwww thank you. You know, I have it since quite a while now… But only in the last year and a half I started to understand what I want to do it with it, or kind of. I’ve never used wordpress so I can’t really tell you which is better. I had used blogger before, not founding it particularly hard to understand, so I chose it naturally. And yes, most of the blogs I like too are on blogger. But you can use bloglovin, it helps in keeping track of the blogs you want to follow and also in find the ones you may be interested in.

Just so you know you can follow blogs from any other site, including blogger, just use what is called an RSS reader, I use something called inoreader, it isn’t perfect but it allows you to add blogs/sites that are not wordpress and still read and interact with them. It is (imo) much better than the wordpress reader.

I like your writing style and your ‘give it a go’ attitude! Very fun and very Aussie!
You sound like a pretty cool teenager if you ask me.
It’s scary that saying that makes me no longer a teen.
Now I’m all grown up! 😉
If you’d like to check out my blog (I’m also a newbie), you might enjoy my style too.

        I agree! I’m such a technophobe but I’m learning 🙂
As long as we’re having fun!

I call it the blogosphere too, so we can either pretend that both of us calling it that makes it cool, or that we’re both losers 😉 like Alice said, none of us know what we’re doing in the beginning (my first few posts on The Mostly Confused Teenager were terrible) but soon enough you’ll grasp the concept, and that’s when it’ll become reaaaaally fun!

I’ve had it said to me in the past that should shouldn’t ask an actual outright question in your blog, that the words you use should illicit the comment if there is a comment to be had.

I am not sure, I get their point and I think if there was a actual question at the end of every post I read on someones blog it would be off putting but I still think it has its place and is ok to use on occasion.

I like to think that questions are okay when they’re genuine questions and not just asking for comments – but yes, I can definitely see how it could become annoying!

Yeah it is a fine line, I do like questions sometimes I think they can help focus an answer. I may actually experiment with this on my blog a bit, just to see if things turn out a bit different.

Aww thanks so much! I’m so new to this, I will definitely be posting more and keeping everyone more updated in the near future! Unfortunately, at the moment I am about one month away from my final exams. But thankyou for the award! xx

In blogging, sometimes starting confused is good in that all will be much clearer from then on. 🙂
